A vibrant original travel poster designed by Peter Max for Pan American World Airways celebrating the introduction of the Boeing 747. Created in 1969, the composition combines Max's signature psychedelic imagery with the optimism of the Jet Age, featuring a soaring Pan Am aircraft surrounded by cosmic motifs, radiant color fields, stars, and whimsical graphic elements. Produced at the dawn of commercial jumbo jet travel, the poster captures the excitement and boundless optimism of late 1960s aviation while exemplifying the artist's unmistakable Pop Art aesthetic. Today, it remains one of the most iconic and collectible airline posters of the twentieth century.
